For 42″ diagonal televisions, a viewing distance (from screen surface to eyes) range of 4.2′ (or 50″) to 6.3′ (or 76″) is recommended for the best TV viewing experience. If your regular viewing distance will be more than that, you should at least consider a larger screen size TV.
